YOUR PLANS OR GOD’S PLANS?

PLANS

Have you ever been serving the Lord and suddenly things fall apart?  You felt you were doing the will of God but found everything was suddenly washed away.

Many of us have experienced this in our lifetime, especially if we are in the 50’s, 60’s, 70″s, or for all of us alive in 2020.   We certainly have felt our entire lives shifted instantly.  Some were not prepared for the sudden change but adapted.  Some became extremely depressed or filled with anxiety.  Some became angry and filled with rage.

There were some that shifted immediately and kept on going?  You might ask, “How can someone possibly do that?”

If you are truly in tune with the Lord, the Holy Spirit will go before you and pave the way.  The Holy Spirit will woe you in a direction and it will be up to you, if you chose to turn and follow, or if you want to harden your heart.   There are times we follow the Holy Spirit and the storm comes , we are able to flex and change easily and not become broken or left standing staring out into space wondering what the world has happened, or feel God has abandoned us.

One of the ladies at my office provided a perfect picture of what it is like to build our own life not listening to the Holy Spirit.  Choluteca Bridge in Honduras is a perfect example she showed us of living a beautiful life, expensive investments, finding the most educated human beings, planning, constructing and suddenly realizing there is no water under the bridge.  Zero, not, none…. all the water is flowing all around but the ground under this vast powerful, flexible perfectly designed bridge,  is gone.  No more cars to pass over to the other side.  No more standing on the bridge watching the boats float by or the fish swim under.  No more leisure walks across to visit family on the other side of the bridge.  Just a bridge standing awkwardly on dirt with only dirt under it for 384 yards, equivalent to over three city blocks.

Feb 2020 brought a huge change to our terrain when the COVID 19 hit.  Many church doors were closed..  Sunday classes stopped and all extra activities.  How many people stopped being able to grow as a Christian?  One friend told me they had people calling, angry and telling the pastor, “You have to get the doors open, we are spiritually staving to death.”

If you found yourself spiritually starving to death and you have been a believer for five, ten, fifteen or twenty years; shame on you.

What this person was actually saying was, “I am a lazy no good for nothing Christian.  I come to church so you can pick up the word, my spiritual food and place it into my mouth, just like you would do with a newborn baby.”

“I don’t feel like picking the spoon up myself!”

This person didn’t even know how to hold the spoon yet, much less feed themself.

How dare you not feed me!

For some Feb and March 2020 was a springing board to a new kind of ministry.  A ministry that certainly changed and the terrain was shaken vastly but the water still flowed, in some cases, it flowed more than before the storm.  The reason for this is; some folks listen to the Holy Spirit and listening to the Holy Spirit leads  to open doors, not the same doors but to new doors.   Doors that lead to eternal life.

Each of us need to take a good look at the photo of the Choluteca bridge in Honduras and determine we intently listen to the still small voice of the Lord, instead of setting our own minds in a direction that could leave us standing alone; awkward with no ministry ,after the great storm.

Was given the greatest Heritage anyone could be given. My grandmother prayed for her family constantly, pouring the Living Water over their lives and asking God to change their lives. Born into a ministers family and determined to keep Passing The Baton down from generation to generation
