SON OF THE HIGHEST

Luke 1:32-33
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
What does it mean to you that Christ would be called the Son of the Highest? Just a few small words, yet so very powerful.
If I were to set my son up to be the highest one in the family it would mean that I give him power to make decisions over all that I own. We call this a Power of Attorney. The Power of Attorney can even decide what will become of me when I am unable to make decisions. It means this son can decide what to do if I can no longer breath on my own. Would he leave me connected to a machine that breathed for me or would he decide to pull the plug? This would be his choice.
There is only one reason the God of the universe gave Christ this power. He was proven trustworthy. He had thus far won the victory over the enemy Satan who continually tempted him beyond what any human could fathom or withstand. Can this be said of us? Are we considered trustworthy with what has been placed in our hands or are we holding those treasures so loosely they can be easily snatched away?
He had handled the power of healing to perfection and never acted as many of us would act. We would heal all those we loved and felt worthy and leave out those we felt unworthy helpless and hopeless.
He, Jesus had been taken to the highest place and told he could have the kingdom if he would but do as Satan requested. Did he follow the commands of Satan? By no means! He remained focused on what he had been created to do.
It would be so easy for we believers to buckle under to the powers that seem to be sweeping through our universe, teaching believers to doubt the Word of God. Teaching we must become weak, that we must give in to the words of the enemy, who bids us to partake in things the Word of God has taught us was against. Who bids us turn our back on the very one who formed us and placed us on this earth for His glory.
It would be so easy to slip away during this time where believers are not attending worship services due to COVID or other illnesses. So easy to slip into the path that many are walking with their friends and acquaintances, because after all, the path to the Most High God is not popular and is many times very difficult.
This is not what we were created to do!
We were created to follow the path that our Savior followed right up to the throne of God.
We were not created to fall into the snare of the Satan.
We were created to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We were created to abide forever with the Son of the Most High.
Being the perfect lamb of God, He(Christ) made His appeal to the God of the Universe and paved a way for not only himself to be lifted up, but He paved a path where each of us could come boldly to the Throne of God with our partition for redemption. To come boldly before the Throne of God with our plea to the Son of the Most High God to redeem those we hold so dearly, our children, our parents, our brothers, our sisters and all those we love into His eternal kingdom.
There is no possible way for me to obtain this holiness needed to purge the sins for those I love, but Jesus Christ has obtained the right, the Power of Attorney for you and I, of which I am so grateful.
May we learn to lean into the Son of the Most High God and trust him with all our heart this Christmas.

Was given the greatest Heritage anyone could be given. My grandmother prayed for her family constantly, pouring the Living Water over their lives and asking God to change their lives. Born into a ministers family and determined to keep Passing The Baton down from generation to generation
