GOD’S PROMISES FULFILLED
Yesterday our blog was on the rainbow. God’s promise to never destroy the earth by flood again.
Did you know there are different rainbows? Today we will look at three. The first being the rainbow after the flood, the second is a rainbow that can be seen from an airplane. This rainbow is called, “Glory”. A rainbow that forms a full circle around the airplane’s reflection is breath-taking. You can see this spectacle from the plane you’re on. The third one is the rainbow that surrounds the throne of God.
The emerald rainbow encircling God’s throne in Revelation draws together the great themes of Scripture into a single, radiant image. It reflects God’s holiness wrapped in mercy—His justice never separated from grace. From the covenant established after the Flood to the prophetic promises. The fulfillment in Christ, the rainbow testifies that the Creator remains faithful to His word. What God pledged in Genesis He continues to uphold in Revelation. He ultimately secured through the resurrection of the Jesus Christ. This guarantees life beyond death and the fulfillment of every divine promise.
At the same time, the green hue of the emerald points toward life, renewal, and restoration. It signals that God’s purposes are not limited to judgment but are aimed at the renewal of all things. The rainbow surrounding the throne assures us that we serve a God of mercy. It shows hope remains central to His reign. The Lord who once set the rainbow in the sky still reigns over all things. Christ is inviting His people to trust His promises. He asks we live in hope, and rest in the life-giving presence of the faithful God. The God who makes all things new.
The rainbow around the throne gathers all of history into one divine narrative. The creation, fall, redemption, and restoration converge in the glory of God.
REVELATION 4:1-3
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
